Philosophy

All BearCreek Photography images are taken by husband and wife team Tom and Jen Tenney. Tom and Jen strive to capture the true natural spirit of a subject be it scenic, wildlife, flower, macro subject or agricultural or event work. Even when working in an outside studio setting they strive to capture the inner spirit rather than pretty props. With the exception of their emulsion transfer fine art works, their use of image enhancing filters and effects is limited to using only that which will produce a true reproduction of natural history.

Their love of outdoor adventure and the North American West, both Canada and the United States, is evident in their reflective mountain portraits and wild flower filled landscapes. Whenever possible they live out of a tent in the back country or traveling back country roads in their SUV giving them the opportunity to truly study the wildlife and wild places they so dearly love.

Jen has worked as a professional photographer since the early 1980's working primarily as a photojournalist until the last few years when she has focused on North American natural history. Jen and Tom joined their efforts when they married in the late 1980's.
